The number 2 pencil is standard and ordinary pencil in United States, it is not colored pencils. A number 2 pencil is your main tool to learn in drawing. Drawing with your cool pencils is one of the most economical forms of art, and it is very easy to get started in your home. For the absolute beginner people, they just need a number 2 pencil and piece of cheap scrap paper. Just with them they have already to create their first pencil drawings.
The scales of darkness in drawing pencils is a number system that goes from number one to four with number one being the softest and darkest and number four being the hardest and lightest. The number 2 pencil is used to learn in the most of classes, it is darker than a number three or four pencil and harder than a one. The number 2 scale and the one used for all artist grade pencils is an HB (Hard-Black) pencil. On this scale, the number 2 pencil would be an HB.
Many of pencil companies in US use a number system for writing and drawing pencils (1 – 2 - 2½ - 3 - 4). The number 2 pencil is the pencil which produces about specific shade of dark gray in second scale. People can usually identify about it by looking for the number 2 identity on the pencil.
